3. a little black square anti tarnish pad to protect your jewelry from discoloration & tarnish. To use, simply place the pad near your jewelry in an enclosed area, such as your jewelry storage bag. One piece protects for approximately 6 months and completely safe & non-toxic. Made of a special paper which helps to prevent chemical reactions, like oxidation on metals by neutralizing the tarnish-causing oxygen and sulphur compounds.

Gold plated jewelry will remain bright and shiny for a longer period of time if you know how to store and protect it.

Here are just a few tips:

Things to avoid:

• High humidity, excessive heat, body moisture, beauty products like lotions, perfumes, hair sprays and harsh chemicals can cause jewelry to tarnish and change color.

To protect your gold plated pieces:

• Avoid activities that can cause you to sweat a lot while you are wearing your jewelry.

• Take off jewelry while sleeping.

• Remove jewelry before taking a shower or swimming.

• Wear your jewelry last when you getting ready, after applying parfum or lotion wait until they dry before put on jewelry.

• Store your jewelry clean. Gently wipe your gold plated jewelry after each use with a soft cloth to remove any dirt or debris.

• Make sure your jewellery is fully dry before returning to its storage.

• Keep your jewelry in a dark and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. Preferably away from windows to avoid condensation.

• I recommend just putting your jewelry in a soft pouch bag where it can breath and store it in a cool, dry place which well ventilated.

• Keep all your gold-plated jewelry pieces separate from each other to prevent rubbing.

• Have different storage places for different colors of metals like gold, silver and rose gold. Different metals can react with one another, leading to quicker tarnishing or even damage. 

• Avoid wooden jewelry boxes and drawers lined with wood while certain types of wood, particularly oak, emit chemicals that can lead to faster tarnishing.

• Avoid paper gift boxes and faux leather jewelry boxes which are held together with all sorts of glues and chemicals. Adhesives often emit chemicals and corrosive gases that can accelerate tarnishing. 

• Avoid Ziploc bags, where jewellery can't breathe. Once you cut off the air supply, chemical reactions can take place.

• Occasionally, you may also clean your jewellery using mild soup and warm water. Make sure your jewellery is fully dry before returning to its storage. Avoid using a silver cloth as it will remove the gold plating!
